
History of Hangzhou

Yu Qian, a local of hangzhou, at fifteen had already been a skillful writer and at age of sixteen attended Sanmaoguan(a place for study) where he wrote the famous poem song of lime in which he expressed his thought he dedicated to his rest life. He was an outstanding figure of ancient China in Hangzhou, together with Yue fei and Zhang changshui, were regarded as three well known people of West Lake for their heroic spirit for protecting their nation. Through out his life, integrity and honest, justice and fairness were showed in his behavior. He commanded the war of defending Beijing at the time of jeopardy facing the dynasty, then beat back the aggression of Wala ethnic and finally saved his country and people. Yu Street in Wusan named after him for he studied there at young age. It was the year 1466 when the country was reigned by Chenhua emperor of Ming dynasty, Yu Qian were unfairly treated before he passed away. In order to compensate and in memory of him, his formal residence was titled Lianzhong ancestral temple and the lane he used to walk became Citangxiang. The zhongqiao Hall, Sixian Count yard and old-aged well were renovated. The mast stone, statue stele and so on, were well erect to display.
