 Wulin Street

An experienced critic once said: “If you want to check out natural beauties in Hangzhou, Wulin Street was no doubt the best choice rather than the hot chicks with heavy make-ups in recreation places.”

With a length of 1, 650 meters, Wulin Road stretches from Qing Chun Road in the south and Ti Yu Chang Road in the north. Its spur tracks include: a section of Feng Qi Road which is 580 meters long form Yan An Lu Kou to Huan Cheng Xi Lu, Shi Hu Qiao Road which is 280 meters from Yan An Lu Xi to Wulin Road, and Long You Road which is 245 meters far from the Huan Cheng Xi Lu in the west and Wulin Road in the east.

The street is the No.1 window displaying women’s fashion in Hangzhou; it looks like a glamorous star galaxy that gives off its shining rays over the vast vigorous market in Hangzhou.

Originally Wulin Street wasn’t so well-known even for Hangzhou locals until the commercial area was built up and shopping centers such as Hangzhou Tower, Intime (Yintai) and Hangzhou Department Stores unveiled their faces. These big department stores bring the latest world-class fashion and draw the eyes of the mass. While the problem is, not all who can appreciate the beauty displayed can afford to buy. Naturally, the nearby Wulin Street became the right place for small shops selling unique clothes and decorations at acceptable prices. Now Wulin Street has been known as “Woman Street” all over the country.

To follow the trend of fashion, the Municipal Committee and Government set up the idea to make Hangzhou as the Capital of Women’s Fashion in China and make the city as a high quality brand in women’s fashion. Naturally, with so many vogue style fashion stores, Wulin Road becomes the main show window for Hangzhou’s fashion scene. As the Municipal Government’s increasing ambition in making the city as the capital of fashion now, the business owners here are making efforts to build the street into a place for tourism, shopping and leisure.

There are increasing numbers of fashion stores after the street’s renewal (which has about 798 businesses presently). With the introduction of renowned brands home and abroad as well as funds from private investments, Wulin Street has become one of the most prosperous fashion centers in Hangzhou.

Undoubtedly, with its good geographical position in one of the best tourism cities in China, the Wulin Street is the golden business card of Hangzhou and the masterpiece of fashion of China.

You can take Buses No.5, No.14, No.21, No.30, and No.45 to get there.
