Hangzhou had the fame for fan productions for a long time, especially since South Song Dynasty (1127-1279), when many fan experts gathered in Hangzhou. Fan means not only a cooling tool to Chinese, but a symbol of taste and status. Wangxingji Fan was established in the first year of Guangxu Reign (1875-1908) in Qing dynasty , by the man Wang Xingzhai. He inherited fan-making workmanship from his ancestors, and became a famous artisan in his 20s. His unique black-paper fan had been accepted as a tribute, and won many awards in Italian, Panama, and West Lake “Word Expo”. In century, Wangxingji Fan has constructed a colorful kingdom of fans with its traditional techniques, rich varieties and quality brand.
