 Lin Hejing
Lin HejingLin Pu, also called Lin Hejing, styled himself Junfu, was living between 967AD-1024AD. Born in an old and well-known family of Confucian at North Song dynasty(960AD-1127AD) in Hangzhou, he traveled across Yangtze and Hui river areas , afterwards, settled at the foot of Gu hill in Westlake as a recluse.

For the reasons that he didn’t leave the place he lived for years long and be content with planting plum and feeding cranes, in addition to he didn’t get a wife during his whole life, the much told story about plum as his wife and the cranes as his offspring has spread.

Till today his story with plum and cranes were known to all, even in the modern’s Chinese dictionary Cihai, there is an item explaining the story as this: Lin Fu, a recluse of Song dynasty built his home in Gu hill in Westlake, without wife and offspring, amused himself by planting plum and feeding cranes, so he acquired the reputation of the planting plum as his wife, feeding the crane as his son.
