                                                     Just like a blooming and rare flower, Daguan Primary School is especially famous for its art education which is located near the Grand Canal in Hangzhou. The school has a long history since the Qing Dynasty. It was built in 1910. As a key unit for foreign affairs, more than 30 delegations from foreign countries have been to this school and the school has been to USA, Korea, Japan, Hong Kong and Taiwan, etc for eight times. It has two sister schools in USA and Japan, and keep in touch with the students from UK and Singapore.

During the course of the school development, with cultivating and educating the children as its duty and basis, quality as the first thing, versatility as its aim and art education as its characteristic, the school is becoming more prosperous and especially the art education is gaining many rewards. Though there are only 20 classes, every child in this school can play one of the traditional music instruments. The traditional music instruments’ training is famous in China. There’re more than 600 art programs, Dou Qu is one of the most famous traditional music instruments concerts which got the two gold cups from the country’s champion. In 2000 the school was named by the Ministry of Education as the “advanced unit of art education”, and the experimental school of art education in Zhejiang Province.

The school has gotten many good results of the scientific research. Life education is what most cared. It is an advanced unit of the school scientific research work, and one of the 200 most advanced school of Zhejiang Province.

Many excellent students were graduated from this school, such as the academician of the Youth Academy of Sciences, the first one of the country’s computer match, the first one of the Hua Luogeng Math Match in Hangzhou, the Champion of the country swimming match and many famous young movie stars.
